Established and beginning its operations in 1951 as Fiji Airways (until 1971), Air Pacific is the primary international airline of Fiji. Based in Nadi International Airport, it operates services to Samoa, Tonga, USA, New Zealand, Kiribati, Japan, Canada and Australia. It is jointly owned by the Fiji Government, Qantas and the Kiribati, Tongan, Samoan and Nauru governments.
Air Pacific operates services to the following destinations; Domestic scheduled destinations: Nadi and Suva. International scheduled destinations: Apia, Auckland, Brisbane, Christchurch, Honiara, Honolulu, Los Angeles, Melbourne, Nuku'alofa, Papeete, Port Vila, Sydney, Tokyo, Vancouver and Wellington.
In-flight services
There is a complimentary bar service with spirits, beers, international wines, soft drinks, tea and coffee. On some aircraft water dispensers are located at various points. On the B737-800 the very latest ergonomically designed seating with adjustable headrests and leg rests provide superior comfort and support. The headrests also feature adjustable wings making sleeping a lot easier. Air Pacific flights have both complimentary video and audio entertainment from seat back displays throughout all B747-400 aircraft. In 'Tabua' or Business Class there are up to 21 channels and a selection of 10 movies. All food is prepared for each flight using fresh local ingredients. For kids there's the Captain Bula Kid's Club. Exclusive to young travellers, children are offered activity kits that provide hours of fun. The activity kits are not only help to occupy kid's minds for the flight duration but are also beneficial for their learning, educating them on Pacific marine life, local flora and fauna. Fijian folklore introduces local culture as well. Frequent Flyers
With Qantas as a partner and major shareholder in Air Pacific, the Frequent Flyer programs of Qantas and American Airlines' AAdvantage are shared with Air Pacific. This means that if you're a member of Qantas Frequent Flyers or AAdvantage, you can earn points each time you fly Air Pacific. Accrued points are also redeemable on Air Pacific prime flights (operated by Air Pacific). However, all frequent flyer program administration, including earning and using points, is maintained by Qantas and American Airlines.
Tabua Club
Members of the Tabua (translates: whale's tooth) Club can avoid long check in queues with a separate dedicated priority counter, even if its an economy ticket. Priority tags are given to ensure the arrival of 'Tabua Club' members luggage before any one else's. There are also lounges to relax, catch up on work or hold meetings in. Members are also given an allowance of 10kg of excess luggage.
